Belmonthropology [Jan. 30th, 2005|09:10 am]
Lindsey Kuper

On the train platform I saw a group of hipster kids without coats huddled together against the cold. I thought to myself, very clearly, "They're going to a show at Metro and they don't want to pay for coat check." Based on their conversation later when we were standing next to each other on the train, that was exactly what was going on.

I'm good.

I like the term "Belmonthropology."
There could be Addisonthropology too.

Ooh, that's good. You lose the shared 't', but you gain the 'A'.

Eep! How cold is it out there right now, anyway? (I remember late January as usually being the really hellish part of winter). Hope the show was good enough to make up for it. And I too like "Belmonthropology" - doubtless you could find evidence of many strange tribal customs in all those offbeat dress shops they have down there.

Are you doing all right, BTW? And how is the dog doing? Are you going to be able to take Tuesday off and requisition a piano? I do hope everything is working itself out a bit better.

Dude. I wanted to respond to this properly, so I went to a weather website to look up how the weather had been for the past month or so. (I know it's been freakin' cold, but I wanted to be able to tell you how freakin' cold.) And from there I ended up at another weather website, and then another, and then I think I must have seen an ad for cold-weather running gear, because the next thing I remember is Googling for cold-weather running gear for an hour, like the cold-weather running gear junkie that I am. =)

I'm okay. Wally's doing okay, too. I'll update soon with more emails from my mom about that. And I did manage to sneak into a Northwestern practice room for a few hours, which did me a world of good. Really, I can't believe how good it made me feel.

So, um, how cold was it?

Never mind, I just looked it up :). Eep. Glad to be out here in the perpetual fog instead (Salt Lake beats London hands down when it comes to fog, though of course London was probably worse when everyone was using coal for fuel).

I'm glad Wally is doing OK, and that you got to practice at Northwestern a bit - hope you can do it again soon.
