The nine-point-circle exploding heart technique [Dec. 2nd, 2010|10:43 am]
Lindsey Kuper

This has been a rough week at work. But I'm about to finish the last big thing I have to do this week -- a group presentation for geometry class about the nine-point circle. Check it: we've got transparencies.

I went to the bookstore looking for those Vis-a-Vis markers that were a fixture of my elementary school education, and they didn't have them! We'll have to draw on our transparencies with big fat ol' ugly dry erase markers. And our group will be ripped to shreds, just like the groups that have gone before. But it's okay! Off we go cheerfully to our doom. And then all I'll have left is all the quals reading ever.

It took me quite a search to find wet erase markers here. I'd bought a grid mat for use in tabletop RPG sessions, and after an initial search came up empty, I decided to test a dry erase on it. That was a mistake, though luckily it was only a test, and another day's search finally uncovered some at a Staples near City Hall.

So yeah, those markers are a pain and a half to find, when I just assumed my campus bookstore would have them also! Apparently no one uses them anymore.

I know, right? I ended up drawing on the transparencies with dry erase markers, which looked bad and required scrubbing off with spit and paper towels, and that still didn't quite remove the markings, so we looked awkward and unprepared in our presentation. Argh!
