This calls for lunch [May. 26th, 2010|01:06 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

Ladies and gentlemen, I have successfully compiled and run the first example of chapter 1, section 1.1, page 1 of C++ Template Metaprogramming. Fear my skills? Or something.

I really miss you guys.

Perhaps you should be going around saying, "Here's a nickel, kid, buy yourself a real macro system."

I'm finding that, having taken Kent Dybvig's course, I can somewhat convincingly fake being a C person (and an x86 assembly person). It's a remarkable realization.

What did Dan give Kent for his C score? Was it a 9? ...

Something about how he's seen very few people with a 9 for both Scheme and C? ...

I think Dan said that Kent was the only person he could think of with a 9 for both.

My supervisor -- who gave me the book -- said, "Don't have too much fun with this." I think he's afraid he won't see me for a week.

You should dig up and read the book by Andre Alexandrescu on template metaprogramming in C++. Around chapter 5 he rederives Lisp at compile time. It's great fun.
