Today it occurred to me that it's been just about exactly five years since that article that introduced the term "Ajax" was published. That reminded me of the tales of headhunters looking for "5 years of Ruby on Rails experience" in 2005.
So I went to check and see if Rails actually is five years old yet. It turns out that it is, just. But in the process of checking, I was reminded of the existence of this page, which, in five years, has never stopped making me roll my eyes. Full of yourselves much?
I said something rude in reaction to it, at which point Alex oniugnip looked over my shoulder and said, "You used to like Rails." "I like Rails fine," I said. "I just hate this page."
In the hey-look-what-I-did voice he uses now and then for poking fun at people, he said, "I made a web framework once." A pause, and then, in his normal voice, "Oh, shit! I did make a web framework once."
"Oh, noes! You were one of the made men!"
"I was a committer!"
"After months of loyal service!"
"Yes! That's exactly what happened!... ...[expletive deleted]!"
