The frigid North [Sep. 1st, 2009|07:56 am]
Lindsey Kuper

This morning, Alex oniugnip got up early to work on stuff for the lab he's teaching. Eventually, I got up and found him in the kitchen, wearing pants and a heavy sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head and clutching his coffee cup for dear life.

Lindsey: You look cold!
Alex: It's really cold! Why is it so cold?
Lindsey: *checks the thermostat* It's a bone-chilling 71 degrees.
Alex: That's really cold!

It's still summer for another 21 days, by the way.

Not just pants! Long pants!

And biking in, I could see my breath!

Here in the Frozen Lands, "pants" means long pants. You're going to have to learn these things, boy!

yeah, I'm still not acclimated yankee summers, either.
My mom called yesterday "we're having a cool spell, it hasn't hit 90°F all week!"

My co-habitating refugee from the South is in climate shock. The cool mornings followed by warm afternoons confuses her expectation that August is HOT HOT HOT.
