I'm not sure what normal people do on the weekend. [May. 4th, 2008|11:19 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

I like to do problems from SICP.

I'm pretty weird, I think. I don't actually care about Making Cool Things. I only care about understanding this book. Other people, they do projects. Me, I just do homework.

Man. This book. We're on chapter 1, exercise 16. There are 46 exercises in chapter 1. If we keep it up, we might get to the end of chapter 1 by the end of the year. How many years do you think it will take to make it to the end of the whole book? If we get that far?

SICP is rad indeed! Just this morning, my mind was suitably blown by the idea of implementing cons cells out of lambdas...

(aw, any idea where it went? thankfully, it's free online!)

No idea. I got it for Christmas one year, and, like many things I have owned, it simply got misplaced.

Doing the exercises from SICP is a great idea btw. I mean I just saw a blog by a guy who did it and now I'm seeing it here but it's a great idea regardless of how cool or uncool it may be

Thanks. I think it was Alex's idea, originally. I'm really glad -- I've already gotten way, way more out of it than if I'd just been reading.

I think it's more fun to do it with a partner, even if that makes us less badass than the guy who did it by himself. You learn a lot from bouncing ideas off someone else.

I just read up to that part of chapter 2! I think I'm'a start doing the chapter 2 problems.

Another thing I'm going to do is go home.

Get some sleep, lovely girl.
