Between 5 p.m. yesterday and 5 a.m. this morning, I:
- rode my bike for an hour and a half
- got my hair cut
- got coffee
- got an amazing black satin eyelet lace Betsey Johnson dress to wear to the wedding for fifteen dollars at a thrift store
- got some other clothes in case I chicken out with the dress
- reserved a hotel room for three nights in Dubuque
- reserved a cab to take me to the airport
- laundered
- folded
- showered
- packed
- worked
- got within 150 pages of the end of Infinite Jest
- didn't sleep
Between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. today, I:
- caught a ride to the airport with the nicest cab driver ever, who, upon hearing I was going to a wedding, regaled me with stories of weddings gone wrong
- was astonished at how busy PDX is at 5:30 a.m.
- got coffee
- flew to Minneapolis
- mused about what I would say if required to tell a funny story about Chris and/or Ginny
- failed to comprehend MSP, as usual
- actually checked in code during 20 minutes in the boarding lounge at MSP
- flew to Cedar Rapids
- got within 100 pages of the end of Infinite Jest
- remembered that the Cedar Rapids airport is The Eastern Iowa Airport, as in, the sticks, as in, it honest-to-God looks like you're landing in a hay field when you're landing
- rented a car for the first time in my life (and did the walk-around-the-car inspection (ha, like I know what to look for) and fiddled with the mirrors and seat, but I haven't started it yet; I hope I remember how to drive)
- didn't sleep
Between now and 5 a.m. tomorrow, I need to:
- get coffee
- find a Kinko's and go there for a super-secret pre-wedding errand
- find the hotel
- find the wedding site
- call my parents
- call Maya
- pass out
