Marathon training: it's going okay!

Today and a week ago today, I ran 12.1 miles, so I've managed to stay caught up on long runs. Yay!

  • The REPENT NOW van. Last week, I thought this van was something special, but everyone was all, "Oh, yeah, the REPENT NOW van." And indeed I saw it again, nearly in the same place, when I ran the same route again today. I'm well on my way to being as jaded as the rest of you.
  • I am bad at listening to music that I'm given, as opposed to music I get for myself. For instance, when I graduated from college, my friend Nick gave me a mix CD containing music he had enjoyed that year, the same one he gave to all our friends as a graduation present. I listened to it for the first time today. Today. It was like opening a time capsule. Ludacris, Cake, Ben Folds. My reaction was, "Good Lord, it's 2003. And I'm in Nick's room."
  • Today was the Worst Day of the Year Ride, and I'm pretty sure I intersected with them at least twice! They looked pretty happy. Also, it was far from the worst day of the year. Indeed, it was the warmest run I've been on in this round of training. 50 degrees. Didn't need layers, didn't need gloves. Beautiful.
