False start

So, um. The last four weeks? Turns out they weren't really the best time to start training.

I feel like such a slacker. I've had a few excuses, some good (moving; business travel; working on a new song) and some maybe not so good (strange compulsion to see The Departed not once but twice, in the theater.) I don't know what to do at this point. I finally started running last week; I went on two three-mile runs, and they went fine, but that's all I really felt like doing. If I want to be doing this for real, I should be running four days a week and following the schedule.

In my defense, I guess I've been riding my bike a lot, which has never been a factor before. (It's really only in the last six months or so that I became the huge bike dork that I am now.) I'm not sure I can handle running four days a week and biking, and I can't not bike for the next three months! I can't!

I made a new plan, based mostly on this one. I've never tried this one before, but it's designed for experienced runners who want a relatively low weekly mileage. (After three marathons, I can call myself an "experienced runner", right?) I'm going to try and make a new start with this tomorrow, but I can't say I'm feeling particularly excited about it. We'll see how it goes.
