|"thumbs up dude!"

So I'm sitting here in this all-night coffee shop, working on my Stanford app, and a guy walks up to me and hands me a piece of paper and then walks out the door. Here's what it says:
I don't know who you are, and I will almost certainly never see you again, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how beautiful I think you are. You brought a bit of light to my otherwise pretty lame night and, for that, I thank you. I truly hope that you are able to appreciate how strikingly pretty you are and that the rest of your night is wonderful.
[guy's first name]
And that's followed by a little stick-figure drawing of a smiling person with a speech bubble that says, "thumbs up dude!"
This is, without a doubt, one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me.
(More or less cross-posted to i_saw_you_pdx.)
I find it much easier to reply to this post than the one about merging... or whatever it is. The one with the Stanford guy.
Umm, I forgot what i was saying...
A few hours ago, before I read his paper, I wouldn't have known what that meant either.
You know, of the people I know who've met you, this is pretty much the consensus opinion.
And obviously my opinion, too, which I think you have figured out. But I didn't want to mention it, because obviously I haven't quite met you enough to go on about how wonderful you are. Its not really even an opinion, as much as just a fact: geek women who are physically active, attractive and artistically skilled are kind of a rare combination.
I'm with this guy. I mean, after you and Jes ran into me at the bubble tea shop that first time, I had to corner him later and say, Who is that woman?
Whoa, seriously? Because I felt kind of like a blathering idiot that day, and I felt somewhat odd and third-wheely at the shop since you two knew each other so well and all.
Yeah, back when I said "Monica had nothing but good things to say about you",
it was really more like "Monica seemed totally dazzled",
but I didn't know how to convey that.

It was just amazing. If it weren't for the piece of paper that I still have, I wouldn't believe that it actually happened.
Awww! That is so freakin' cool.
Don't forget to distribute *your* "You are beautiful" cards, too. :)
Also, I feel that the stick-figure-guy is the best part of the note. It shows that the guy doesn't take himself too seriously.
I loved the stick-figure guy!
that's amazing! thank you for sharing that.
There's a lot of love for you over this, and well deserved, too, but can I just that that dude is my new hero?
What a great guy!
That dude is awesome! I'm so glad that that dude exists.
