Krazy West Koast Travel Month II: Electric Boogaloo [Jun. 8th, 2006|07:07 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

So here's the plan:

  • You know how I said that my band is playing at the White Eagle in August? Uh, slight change. We are now playing at the White Eagle next Wednesday the 14th at 8:00 p.m. Please come! It's our first show that isn't in my living room! Plus, it's free. And the format of the show is unusual -- six bands playing a snappy five songs each -- so, you know, if you hate us, at least we'll be over soon!
  • Thursday the 15th will be my last day at my job; I'm leaving that night for L.A., and now that I don't have to be back at work on the 19th (and in keeping with the true spirit of Krazy West Koast Travel Month), I'm thinking about sticking around L.A. for a few more days so I can spend more time with the Maya leadsynth and the rest of the family. It's going to cost at least $80 to get my ticket changed. Should I do it?
  • In further keeping with the true spirit of Krazy West Koast Travel Month, I will then head up to Seattle on the 25th to teach either Video Game Creation or 3D Game Design at iD Tech UW for about four weeks. I called my old manager to get a reference and ended up getting a job. Funny how these things work out.
  • It will be my third summer teaching for iD. However, it will be my first time teaching either of those courses. In fact, I specifically asked not to teach anything I had ever taught before. Because, you see, I'm insane.
  • I will be coming back to Portland from Seattle every weekend, because we have band practice and, hopefully, shows. I don't have the slightest idea how I will be coming back to Portland from Seattle, or how I will be going back to Seattle from Portland. Which do you think would be more effective: looking for safe ride shares on craigslist, or petitioning Bill Gates to build a bullet train by the end of the month?

First off if you're in L.A. for a Monday night, you must go to The Joint and see the guys play. They put on a hell of a show, and I would love you forever.

What is iD? I couldn't get the link to work. Let me know if you need anything re: teaching and instruction stuff. I may not be able to help a lot, but I'll try.

I would be there the night of the 19th. Waddy Wachtel and Friends?

iD Tech is a summer technology camp for kids and teens. It's a good company to work for -- they're pretty much the best at what they do. In the past I've taught web design and digital music editing, but it's time for a change. And thanks for offering to help -- I might just take you up on that.

Yup :) The Big Mondays band is a group of all star session players from the big leagues - Waddy, Brett Tuggle, Rick Rosas... and they have a habit of bringing in surprise guests. You never know who's going to show up. A few of my friends went to see them a while back and they were blown away. Expect a lot of really good classic rock.

No prob -- I'll be here :)

I'd love it if you could be there! I recommend bringing friends, too, just because it's the sort of place and the sort of show where you claim a table and sit there, not really the sort where you stand around.

Hey, totally stay in LA longer! I won't be leaving until Tuesday the 20th, so you can continue to share my hotel room. Carol and Mitch are also leaving Tuesday. We could even do a Disneyland trip with them on Monday, which is likely to be the least crowded day, you know? And we wouldn't miss the family stuff, which will go down over the weekend.

Haha, yay for teaching something you've never taught before. You know it'll still be all about kids making stick figures and then having them beat each other up. Definitely pimp out Craigslist for the rides!
