Alex's birthday present [Sep. 2nd, 2015|11:54 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

This Monday was Alex oniugnip's thirty-third birthday. For his birthday present, I secretly contacted a bunch of his friends and relatives and asked them to finish the sentence, "Alex, a thing I love about you is...". Then, I made this!

I'm pleased with how it turned out -- I was aiming to get thirty-three things, but in fact, we ended up with a few more than that. The most fun part was getting to read all the lovely things people said about Alex, many of which were phrased much more beautifully than I could have done myself. I presented it to Alex a bit after midnight on Sunday, when I couldn't stand to wait any longer.

Then, this evening, a Recurse Center acquaintance joked, "y'all need to Markov that up a bit" -- so I spent the next couple of hours hacking this together. (The code is here.) Maybe it will amuse you as much as it amused us!

I'm probably done actively soliciting contributions, but if you have something you want to add to the list, feel free to put in a pull request!

"the kindest people that you eat. (Anthony)"

That might be my new favorite. Although "the consideration you give to Georgia. (Anthony)" was pretty good, too.

"Fully realized human beings make Lindsey happy" is true! But "Making Lindsey happy is what fully realized human beings do" -- if only!
