I'm leaving for ICFP in just a few hours. I can't wait to get there and hang out with the likes of Tim, Stevie sstrickl, Chris chrisamaphone, and evidently also Jason jcreed!

Most of the time, I don't feel particularly tempted to break the self-imposed rule that I can only use @lindsey for music-related stuff. But conferences are exactly the kind of thing that Twitter is well suited for, and there are conversations happening right now that it's killing me to not be a part of. I've already abused @csgsa a couple of times now to talk about ICFP and don't want to continue that trend. Maybe actually being at the conference and talking to folks in person will scratch this itch.

It might, but perhaps you could create YaTwitter account for this purpose?

I dunno; I don't plan on live-tweeting or anything (though I'll respond to others' tweets about it), because I just don't really use my Twitter account as a research tool. It's almost purely being silly and/or social.

It's responding to others that I'm most interested in doing, yeah. But maybe it's folly to think that I'd be able to respond in 140 characters. I can't even write a LiveJournal comment that short.

Hi!

So @csgsa is really you. :) Mind if I do a little social networking here at livejournal?

I'm coming to IU in spring. I deleted the hell out of facebook a long while ago and now people laugh at me for my inability to actually exist as far as they are concerned. It's getting kind of embarrassing. I know only a couple of people at IU in real life, and I'm worried it'll stay just that way if I don't socially network...

(Here from your university page.)

Hi! Sure, by all means. I don't use Facebook and never have, so I know what you mean about not existing as far as some people are concerned.

Thanks! I love that you keep writing about life in grad school and such, you know, in a readable manner with correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and everything. As far as I am concerned this is far better than anything facebook can offer. :)

(Sorry about thread fail.)
