"I don't know, can you?" [Mar. 1st, 2010|01:38 am]
Lindsey Kuper

There's a midterm exam in my Intro to Applied Logic course tomorrow. Or is there? The course website says that the exam is "next Monday, Feb 29". It turns out that that's in 2016, by which time I hope to have been long gone from here.

Because I'm a smartass overliteralist, I just sent the professor an email alerting him to this fact. Luckily, he teaches Intro to Applied Logic and can therefore appreciate that kind of humor.

Wait, isn't that what the comma is for -- establishing that "Feb. 29" is a nonessential phrase?

Sure, but nonessential is one thing and factually wrong is another, innit?
