double bind [Jan. 31st, 2009|05:21 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

Being a slightly-less-new grad student has made social relationships go wonky. Before, everyone fit neatly into a group. Now, a person who's my student in one course is my classmate in another; someone else is my classmate in one course and my AI in another; and I haven't had any symmetric is-the-student-of relationships yet, but I could totally see it happening next year.

Re: jargon clash

It's exactly the same as what every other institution in the known universe calls a TA. We just had to be different.
