what if I went to Japan for Christmas?
Roy and Electra would be super-excited?
I bet they'd just be moderately excited. I would be freaking out.
No. We'd be super-excited.
Just stating facts.
You'd find yourself feeling mysteriously tall :)
Sounds like awesome!
These pills make me feel that way anyway!
Silly. They don't have Christmas in Japan.
It's true. Winter break starts the day after Christmas. They do eat fried chicken on Christmas, though. Or so I'm told.
Silly. They don't have fried chicken in Japan.
Sorry, I mean -- sou desu ka?
That would be pretty rad!
then you could eat christmas cake.
What about going in February? Are we not going together any more? :(
I actually just sent off an e-mail to Electra and Roy in which I said I'd bug you and jonatthebar
about making plans. If you'd prefer to go alone let me know and I'll make other arrangements.
Wait, you're going in February? Did you tell me this? Ack! I was going to see if you wanted to go for Christmas.
These opportunities don't come too often!
It'd be rad. Roughly speaking (meaning I don't remember for absolute sure), we have winter break starting December 26 and going until January 15 or something. Break doesn't mean no work, btw, just no classes. But because it's no classes, we can use our nenkyu (paid vacation time) during that period.
We were thinking about using part of winter break to visit Ed in the Philippines, but I'm sure the timing is flexible since the break is so long.
Also, February is when the Sapporo Snow Festival
is. But we don't have any opportunities to use nenkyu during that time and the airfare will be much higher. But Dan is planning to come then, too.
and I started talking seriously about Plan: Japan tonight. This might actually happen. Oh my God.
Well, right on to that! :)

I'd be super envious?
you'd miss my birthday!
and probably have a really good time doing so.
Swing by Okinawa! We're still Japan, you know!
And better food, too!
Oh, man. Japan is big. We'd probably be flying into Tokyo and then heading up to Sapporo by train, so I don't know if Okinawa's feasible. But I'll think about it.
Sapporo is nice, but Okinawa is a tropical paradise!
BTW, I went to Japan last year from Dec 28th until around Jan 7th. It was great, but lots of things were closed (mostly museums, but some stores and places to eat) because of the holiday. If I were to do it again, I would go during a different time of the year.
It turns out that one of the three people I was hoping to see in Japan is going to be back in the States during the exact time I was thinking of going (roughly the 25th through the 1st), so dan_o_m
and I are now thinking about going in February or March.
