balance [Mar. 8th, 2007|11:07 pm]
Lindsey Kuper

Roy royhuggins hurt his leg somethin' awful a couple of days ago, so tonight I made soup and brought it over to his place. It turns out that transporting a large amount of hot soup several miles by bicycle is kind of tricky. It requires balance. Kind of like, say, coming up with activities and conversations that both your boyfriend and your boyfriend's five-year-old can enjoy. Or training for a marathon while still trying to have a social life. Or integrating two legacy software systems. Or working with people in time zones three hours apart. Or figuring out what to do with the next five years.

Hope I don't lose it.

Good goodness, that's impressive!

(I think you beat out my going a few hundred meters on a bike with a cup of coffee in hand)

Dude, this is Portland. The national capital of Bikes; Coffee; and Doing Things Concurrently, Inadvisable Though It May Be. I see people do that every day!

(A good night's sleep does wonders for one's sense of balance)

royhuggins and I are both very grateful for your balance. The soup is mucho yummy!

I would like to say something like, "The more you cultivate balance, the more of it you have" but honestly I have no idea if that's true. So instead I'll say, "Holy crap Lindsey! You brought that gallon of soup over on your bike while it was hot??!!! You r0x0r! You need to put that on your resume. Volunteer Hot Soup Bike Courier."

So does the "hot" in that describe the soup, or me?

Oops! Let me clarify:

Haughtt Volunteer Hot-Soup Bike Courier

"Haughtt" is a superlative of "Hott" which is a superlative of "Hot".

That there is Kevin T. Irvine. The "T" stands for "The Man".
